Hello, Anybody Out There?

Photo Credit:  Jennifer Williams (AKA: Yours Truly!)

To send New Year's wishes seems quite tardy now, but Happy New Year's nevertheless!!  The holidays were wonderfully blessed in the Williams' household this year, as we had the opportunity to spend an amazing amount of time with family in Texas.  The kids traveled fabulously (yes, we did the 2 day drive each way again this year!), and were able to get in lots of play dates with cousins while we were there.  Mommy and Daddy even got in a few play dates as well!  It took a little while to get everyone back on schedule, but we've finally done it :)

Now it's time to get back to biz.  Here's a little eye candy from the lather lab.  I've been putting together some really fresh essential oil blends for Spring.  The one pictured (as of yet unnamed) uses a combination of green tea, lemon, chamomile, and a touch of mint.  Still waiting to be cut, but smells incredible!

Back in a bit...Toodles!

A Brand New Lather Look!

Last fall I introduced Orange Ya' Clover to the seasonal lineup of hand crafted shea butter soaps at Ellia C. Naturals, and it was a huge success. A custom blend of sweet orange, spicy cloves, nutmeg, ginger, and the slightest hint of cinnamon and wallah...autumnal bliss!

This year, I decided to bring it back with a slightly updated look...soft peaks and swirls of cream amidst a dark and earthy back drop. I decided to top it off with a stripe of fragrant hand ground cloves down the center. The shots above are of the makeover (my apologies for the lack of clarity...another story, another time!). Sadly, due to issues with one of my zip drives, I no longer have pics of last year's version. It was more of a layered look with stripes of burnt sienna, orange, and cream. Needless to say, I'm very happy with this year's "model"...what do you think?

Caring for Your Handmade Bar Soap

Love your natural handmade bar soap but hate the gloppy goo that forms at the bottom of the bar in the shower? Use a slotted soap deck to allow your favorite bar to dry out properly between uses and prolong the life of your soap!

That slimy, gloppy, goo is actually loaded with skin nourishing glycerin, which forms naturally during the cold processed method of soap making. It's typically removed from commercial bars and replaced with synthetic gunk, chemical additives, and detergents. By properly draining your handmade soap on a slotted soap deck between uses, you can help keep that skin-loving glycerin in your bar and out of the drain. If you share your shower with other family members, it's also a good idea to store your soap (on its deck, of course!) on the counter or bathtub when not in use to keep the water spray of the shower from whittling it away when others are washing up :)

Happy Friday!
